So I have a business idea. How do I start making it a reality?

Let's start with building a business plan. The Small Business Development Centers can help with this. Contact the RCC SBDC, or the SOU SBDC.

I have a business plan, but how do I get a business license?

Go to the Oregon Secretary of State website and register your business. Then, check with your city or county government to see any additional licensing requirements.
Official cities in our region: Ashland, Butte Falls, Cave Junction, Central Point, Eagle Point, Gold Hill, Grants Pass, Jacksonville, Phoenix, Medford, Rogue River, Shady Cove, Talent
If not within a city, check county laws for Jackson County or Josephine County.

I have a business plan, but not enough capital. What should I do?

Try looking into business loans to discover which one works for you. Local banks include Evergreen Federal, People's Bank, Rogue Credit Union, Umpqua Bank and more.

I got a loan from the bank, but it might not be enough. What should I do?

Southern Oregon Regional Economic Development Inc. (SOREDI) has a gap-financing program that may be of interest. Business Oregon and the Small Business Administration (SBA) also have grant opportunities periodically.

I want to grow my business. Where do I find marketing/networking assistance?

Try getting involved in your local chamber and going to networking events like the Rogue One Million Cups or Pitch Nights (upcoming), where other entrepreneurs are also gathering. The SBDCs (RCC/SOU) or the Jackson County Library Business Librarians may also help with the marketing strategy of your business plan.

What do I do if I want to expand or relocate my current business location?

Have you gotten in touch with Southern Oregon Regional Economic Development Inc (SOREDI)? They may be able to help. Reaching out to local city chambers or city governments may also be useful, depending on where you want to expand/relocate.

What does the Southern Oregon Innovation Hub do?

The SOIH aims to provide vital resources, networking opportunities, and a supportive platform for innovation through Entrepreneur Support Organizations (ESOs) and key partnerships.
